This spectacular tome of research and practical know-how is a must-have for any scholarly reader or fan of Egyptology. Dr. Tamara L. Siuda reveals amazing insights about the Netjeru (deities), their ancient devotees, their temple and shrine locations, and the ways they are celebrated in contemporary times. In addition to explaining the pantheon's many syncretisms and theophanies, this book includes rarely covered deities and uncommon knowledge, such as:

  • How an asteroid was named after Apophis, the serpent embodiment of universal evil .
  • How Japanese museumgoers rediscovered the god Medjed and made him an anime superstar
  • How the iconography of the Christian Virgin Mary and Child were directly influenced by Egyptian deity images and used for millennia before Jesus
  • How Khonsu, misspelled as Khonshu, became a comic book hero in Marvel's Moon Knight

A masterful achievement of scholarship and modern interpretation, this book will profoundly enrich your understanding of the Egyptian deities. Dr. Siudas deep devotion to this everlasting theology shines on every page.

'This book offers so many avenues to explore... If you're looking for an answer to an unusual question about Egyptian deities, this is the first book in which to search.’ — Normandi Ellis.
